Privacy Policy
This policy explains the information ChineseNameGuide uses to provide public name tools, account sync, saved results, optional traditional tools, and optional AI enhancements.
Information you provide
Account registration may include your email address and display name. Naming tools may process an English name, Chinese names, selected preferences, and results you choose to save. Four Pillars tools may also process a birth date, local time, confirmed timezone, and optional place. Do not enter unrelated confidential information into tool fields.
Tool history and creative outputs
Anonymous tool history remains in the current browser session. Signed-in users can save versioned analysis results, derived Four Pillars charts, and Badge or Name Passport design specifications to their account. Free analysis history expires after 30 days; eligible paid plans may retain it longer. You can remove supported history and saved outputs from the product.
Four Pillars birth information
Birth date, local time, timezone, and place are used in memory to calculate a requested chart and are not placed in a share URL or saved by default. If you explicitly save a chart, ChineseNameGuide stores only the displayed derived chart and its method versions, not the original birth date, time, timezone, place, or lunar date.
Optional AI enhancements
When enabled and requested, AI features receive the structured tool facts needed for that feature. Pending facts are encrypted for queued processing, and provider metadata uses a pseudonymous user key rather than an email address or raw name. AI job status, credit usage, validated output, model version, and error category may remain in account history. AI features are optional and do not replace the deterministic tools.
Saved collection
Saving requires an account. Saved names, characters, and surnames are stored with your account for use across devices and can be removed from the Saved collection page. Older browser-only collections may remain on a device and are migrated after sign-in when account capacity is available.
Authentication
Email authentication is handled by the ChineseNameGuide backend. Google sign-in is handled through Google OAuth and the backend callback. We do not ask you to share your Google password with this site.
Payments
Paid upgrades use Stripe Checkout. Stripe processes payment details and returns subscription status to our backend; ChineseNameGuide does not store full card numbers.
Pro launch waitlist
If you explicitly join the Pro launch waitlist, we store your email address, the fixed signup source, the consent version, and the time of consent. We use this record only to send one email when Pro opens; it is not added to a marketing list. To access, correct, or remove a waitlist record, contact hello@chinesenameguide.com.
Analytics and advertising
Optional Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity, and Google AdSense scripts load only after consent. Product events use enumerated categories and do not include a name, English name, birth date, birth time, place, email address, or result text. You can decline optional analytics or reopen Cookie settings from the footer. Necessary browser storage remains active for theme, authentication, privacy choices, pending actions, and browser-session history.
Sharing and retention
We use service providers to operate the product, authenticate users, process payments, run explicitly requested AI, understand consented analytics, and serve consented advertising. Account records, saved results, output specifications, and AI jobs remain until removed through supported controls, expiry rules, or a verified account deletion request, subject to security and legal retention requirements.
Your choices
You may use public tools without an account, decline optional cookies, remove supported saved items and history, and permanently delete your account from Profile. You may also request access, correction, export, or deletion of account data. Contact hello@chinesenameguide.com.
